20-MW geothermal power development ongoing at Simav, Türkiye

Seven wells are planned for drilling for the 19.9-MW Demirci-1 geothermal power project in the Simav district in Kütahya, Türkiye.
Work is ongoing for the 20-MW Demirci-1 geothermal power project by Simav Geothermal Electricity Generation Inc. in the Simav District of Kütahya, Türkiye. The project has an investment cost of approximately TL 488 million (approx. USD 10.9 million) and is projected to generate 159 million kWh of power annually, or enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 47,000 people.
The project envisions the drilling of 4 production wells and 3 reinjection wells. Drilling of well KSD-2011/7 has been completed, while drilling of the Öreyler-1 well is reported at its final stages. Two more production wells and 3 reinjection wells are yet to be drilled.
The electricity produced is planned to be connected to the Simav Transformer Center (154 kV), located approximately 7 kilometers away, via the substation to be built, and then transferred to the national interconnected system.
A large-scale geothermal greenhouse project is also under development in the Simav district with planned area of 1,185,000 m², 44 greenhouse plots, and 16 industrial plots. Drilling of a second well for this project was reported in mid-2025.
