Kyushu Electric Power Co., Ltd, West Environmental Energy Corp. and the city of Kokonoe enter an agreement for the development of a geothermal power project in the municipality of the Sugawara district.
The city of Kokonoe will provide the geothermal resources, West Environmental Energy Corp. – a fully owned subsdiary of Kyushu Electric – will see about the development and construction of the plant. Kyushu Electric Power is the equity partner in the project and will provide technical guidance.
The project is said to consider a 5 MW power plant with a planned start of development in March next year and a possible start of operation in March 2015.
