Pagosa Springs in Colorado invests in geothermal exploration

As part of annual budgeting meetings, Pagosa Springs in Colorado has set a $200,000 aside as a line item should the county elect tos pend funding for geothermal exploration in 2014.

Earlier this year, Archuleta County pledged $65,000 toward research done by private company Pagosa Verde, LLC. In the summer the company, with the support of summer students, did a study on geothermal resources and the possibility of a future geothermal power plant. The town of Pagosa Springs is helping to fund that research.

A joint field camp for the Colorado School of Mines and the Imperial College of London, UK, created a large report with the results of the “Geophysical Investigation of the Pagosa Springs Geothermal System”.
