As part of a press conference in Las Vegas this week, Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. spoke about the results of a new report published in the state.
The report shows investment of $5.5 billion into the clean energy sector in Nevada since 2010.
For geothermal, the facts mentioned in the report are indeed quite interesting. There are today 32 operating geothermal plants in Nevada, with an installed power generation capacity of 566 MW.
So if Nevada were a country, “it would be the eighth-largest producer of geothermal power of the 25 countries generating this form of renewable electricity today,” the report states.
