Caribbean Dominica step closer to secure additional funding for geothermal project

The Caribbean island state of Dominica has been working on making geothermal power a reality. Having drilled wells already, the government has over the past few years tried to gather together the funding for the construction of a geothermal power plant.

Now it is reported locally, that the government has come a step closer to secure EC$44 million (around US$16 million) for the project.

For the start, it is planned to construct a 7 MW geothermal power plant, as we have reported on before.

The news on current funding efforts were shared by Vince Henderson, Chairman of the Government of Dominica Geothermal Energy Development & Negotiations Team. So far the government already has secured EC$33 million.
