The year of 2017 ended with a total installed geothermal power generation capacity of 14,060 MW. This is an increase of 792 MW that were added throughout 2017.
Additions this year were:
- Turkey: 325 MW
- Indonesia: 165/ 359 MW (in earlier statistics the first Sarulla unit was not added in 2016 – )
- Chile: 48 MW
- Iceland: 45 MW
- Mexico: 25 MW
- United States: 24 MW
- Portugal (Azores): 3 MW
- Japan: 5 MW and smaller plants
- Hungary: 3 MW
