Dogal Hayat Jeotermal ve Tarim A.S. has announced plans to begin geothermal exploration in Yesilyurt village, located in the Ayvacik district of Canakkale Province, northwestern Turkey. The project aims to identify and evaluate the geothermal fluid potential in the area.
According to project details, the planned work will take place on a privately owned plot of about 9,000 square metres within the company’s licensed concession area (No. 3248844). A single exploration well, designated YO-01, is planned on parcel 160/7.
Balancing geothermal development and land use
Because the project site is classified as olive farmland, Dogal Hayat Jeotermal will first secure permits required under Turkey’s Olive Cultivation Law (No. 3573) and Soil Conservation and Land Use Law (No. 5403). These approvals ensure compliance with agricultural and land-use regulations.
If the exploration confirms a geothermal resource, the company plans to use the thermal fluid for spa and wellness facilities, greenhouse heating, or other agricultural applications, depending on the temperature and flow rate of the resource discovered.
Expanding geothermal prospects in northwestern Turkey
The Ayvacik project adds to the growing number of geothermal initiatives across the Marmara and Aegean regions, reflecting the continued expansion of Turkey’s direct-use geothermal sector. With a supportive legal framework and active private investment, such projects highlight geothermal energy’s contribution to renewable heat supply and sustainable rural development.
