ZeroGeo Energy GmbH (ZeroGeo) has announced the acquisition of Geothermie Rupertiwinkel GmbH (GTR), along with it the existing assets and the 91-km² Ruperti II geothermal permit area in southeast Bavaria, Germany.
The Ruperti II permit benefits from extensive 3D seismic surveys done over the whole permit area, measurements made from two cased boreholes that were drilled in 2021 to depths of about 6200 mMD, and a full functional drilling paid with three cellars ready for drilling.
Technical data available at the Ruperti II geothermal site will be instrumental in ZeroGeo’s development plans for a Green Energy Hubi in Kirchanschöring. The Green Energy Hub will consist of:
- A geothermal heating and cooling plant that delivers heat and/or cooling to the municipality and industrial customers of Kirchanschöring;
- a 10 MWe Battery Energy Storage System; and
- a geothermal power project, starting with a 3 to 5 MWe pilot using Petrothermal technology
