Reported yesterday, Italian Enel Green Power has started the operations at the Rancia 2 geothermal power plant in Tuscany, Italy.
The nameplate capacity of the plant is 17 MW. The plant was refurbished as part of a $620 million plan for further development of geothermal energy projects in Italy.
“Enel Green Power CEO, Francesco Starace, said: “These works show our commitment to the continuous search for the improvement of the existing power fleet whereas, at the same time, we maintain our involvement in further increasing our generation capacity globally by putting new plants into operation.”
Work is currently in progress on on the Rancia 1 and Le Prata plants, located in the towns of Radicondoli, Siena and Castelnuovo VC, Pisa, Italy.”
