The University of Urbino in Italy, in collaboration with SAIPEM, has created and published the GeotherMOOC, a free and open online course that provides a multidisciplinary overview of the geothermal value chain. The Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) combines the scientific expertise of the University of Urbino, the engineering and operational expertise of SAIPEM, and the contributions of many experts from the CNR, the Polytechnic University of Milan, the Polytechnic University of Turin, and the University of Glasgow.

The course covers high, medium, and low-enthalpy geothermal. It is divided into 8 modules, including video lessons, teaching materials, in-depth analysis, and tests. Each hour-long video is held live online, but the lessons remain online for on-demand viewing. Lessons are taught in Italian with teaching materials in English. Recordings of the video lessons are also available in English, starting the week following the lesson.
The first lecture of the course (Introduction to the Geothermal Value Chain) will be held on the 11th of November.
For those looking for other free online training material on geothermal energy, there is another MOOC available on shallow geothermal and ground source heat pumps. Learn more about the GEOBOOST MOOC here.
