Iceland announces geothermal development program to support East Africa

Iceland announces geothermal development program to support East Africa

As part of his speech at the recent UN General Assembly in New York, the Foreign Minister of Iceland announces that his country is “pioneering a program that will bring clean renewable energy to millions of people in Africa”.

Iceland will work with the World Bank to assist 13 countries in East Africa to harness their geothermal energy resources.

There are currently no more details available, but it seems like part of the greater interest of the World Bank and other development banks in the support of the ambitious renewable energy programs in Kenya and other East African countries.
