KenGen seeking way to utilize hot waste water for power generation

The Daily Nation newspaper in Kenya reports that KenGen is seeking the advise of consultants. This is to help the company to find ways on how it can utilize hot waste water from its geothermal power plants at Olkaria for additional power generation.

The wells in question produce about 1,000 tonnes of water per hour. The company believes there is additional value that can be achieved, e.g. through a bottoming cycle.

The company is looking for economic and financial analysis of proposed binary plants and advise on how it can dispose of the water after the utilisation in secondary plants.
