As reported by Nikkei this week, a new geothermal power plant went online in Japan. The plant in Iwate Chinetsu KK (Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture) started operations already in late January 2019 with a rated output of 7.499MW in Matsuohachimantai District, Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
The plant sells its electricity to Tohoku-Electric Power Co. Inc at a price of JPY 40/ kWh or around $0.36/ kWh under the current feed-in-tariff scheme. The construction services for the plant were provided by JFE Engineering Corp.
