North Dakota testing ORC systems at oilfields

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) considers there to be favourable locations for deep enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) in North Dakota, U.S.

In 2010 the University of North Dakota (UND) received two grants worth $1.7 million to install ORC systems at oilfields. The research project has plans to establish two demonstration sites of geothermal energy production this year at a  location near Rhame and one near Dickinson, North Dakota. The project is led by the Petroleum Research, Engineering, Education and Entrepreneurship Center of UND
