Reported locally, the geothermal power project called Olene near Klamath Falls in Oregon will start drilling its second well in March.
According to the company, the project has completed the construction of the drill pad and expects drilling of this second well to take around two to three months.
As reported previously, the first well reached a depth of 6,000 feet (around 1,800 meters) and sufficiently hot fluid for power generation with a temperature of 250-320 degrees Fahrenheit (120-160 degrees Celsius).
With the current well alone the company trusts 4 MW in geothermal power generation capacity is feasible.
The project developer plans a 12 MW geothermal power plant with an eventual goal of up to 20/ 25 MW. If everything goes according to plan, the developer expects the plant to be online in 2017.
The developer is looking at additional geothermal projects in the area.
