Registration is open for a workshop on the wide system benefits of geothermal energy, taking place on 7 June 2026 just ahead of the WGC 2026 in Calgary, Canada.

Registration is now open for a workshop that explores the benefits of adopting geothermal energy technologies in the context of national or regional energy systems.

TheWider Energy System Benefits from Geothermal” workshop is being organized by IEA Geothermal and will take place just ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Geothermal Congress. The workshop is free of charge, but registration is required to participate.

The dynamic 3-hour workshop will explore the wider system benefits of geothermal energy generation. The discussions will go beyond cost savings and carbon abatement to examine broader implications such as socio-economic impacts, energy security, infrastructure integration, and flexibility. The workshop will also introduce the IEA Geothermal Task Group on Wider System Benefits, its objectives, and activities.
