Three geothermal exploration areas in Bitlis, Türkiye going up for tender

The Bitlis Provincial Special Administration in Türkiye is re-tendering three previously abandoned geothermal exploration license areas in Adilcevaz district.

The Bitlis Provincial Special Administration’s Provincial Council is re-tendering three geothermal resource exploration license areas located in the Adilcevaz district of Bitlis in Türkiye. These areas have been previously subject to relinquishment requests and will be re-offered to investors through an open bidding process.

Geothermal resource exploration license areas numbered ARA.13.00.2021.JEO.1, ARA.13.00.2021.JEO.2 and ARA.13.00.2021.JEO.3, owned by the Provincial Special Administration, will be tendered under the State Tender Law No. 2886. The three sites and their corresponding prices are as follows:

The auctions will be held on March 26, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM in the Bitlis Provincial Special Administration Provincial Council meeting hall. The auction will be conducted using the open bidding method.

The tender specifications and appendices can be reviewed at the Bitlis Provincial Special Administration’s Directorate of Planning and Urban Improvement.

Bitlis and its surroundings, with their volcanic structure and hot springs, have previously been the subject of various studies and news reports regarding their geothermal potential .
