Toshiba wins order for two 83 MW turbines worth $94m for Te Mihi plant in NZ

Reported by Toshiba Corp., the company announces “it has won an order worth about 8 billion yen (US$94m) from an international joint venture to supply it with geothermal power equipment at a plant in New Zealand.

Under the contract with the joint venture of Australia’s McConnell Dowell, Canada’s SNC-Lavalin and Parsons Brinkerhoff of the United States, Toshiba will deliver two 83 megawatt-class geothermal turbines in 2012 for the Te Mihi power plant in the Taupo volcanic zone.

Each turbine will be supplied with a generator and condenser, the major Japanese electronics maker said. The products will be designed and manufactured at its plant in Yokohama.”
